First Garmin Run!

Wow, this thing is freaking cool!

Last week I ordered my very first Garmin Forerunner 305 on Amazon.com. It came in the mail on Wednesday, and yesterday was the first time I tested it out.

The run was interesting to say the least. For those of my Austin readers, you know the weather has been strange at best...

After work, I drove down to the lake, strapped on my heart rate monitor, Garmin on my wrist, ready to run! The temperature was 97 degrees with 45% humidity...miserable! Since this was the 5th run I've done outside since May, I had to walk a bit, which at first pissed me off, but quickly realized that I needed to take it slow if I was that hot.

I was scheduled for a 30 minute run. At about minute 18, the clouds rolled in and it started POURING RAIN! Temperature dropped to the 70's (so my car said), and I looked like a cute little runner girl/drowned rat...picture that! It was a pretty sight! ;)

Finished off the run for 2 reasons:
  1. I'm that hardcore! haha
  2. I was on a trail...not much choice but to run the lap!
Another toy I got in the mail on Wednesday, my new camera! I dabble in photography and was so stoked to get my new camera. I bought a Canon EOS Digital SLR Rebel XS.

I'm planning to take the camera out this weekend to a couple of spots I've been eyeing around town that I've been waiting to shoot until I got my new camera!

Here are a few shots I got last night...Winston was such a good sport in front of the camera! :)

Good for you that you kept on running.
I don't run well when it's too hot so I'm looking forward to the fall which has started today it seems :)
